Freedom Flowers Project

Freedom Flowers was a project in collaboration with Elaine Roberts and Safe-net. It was inspired by my tapestry Flowers of the Desert. we created a quilt to represent every woman who has gone through the refuge since opening. Women designed their own panels and whether they preferred to embroider or paint them. some of them asked if they could create them with other images rather than flowers since they brought memories to the abuse they had experienced in the past. the quilt was displayed at Safe-net's annual AGM at Burnley Town Hall.
We had great response from artists and local community who provided us with materials for our project.

Women made their own project with paper flowers and sent them to David Cameron asking him to change policy and protect women from violence and exploitation
